While I have been and will continue to slowly build equity, I wont have the opportunity to actually spend or even really save any cash until that land contract is up in another year and a half.

Ask that lawyer to do your case for half price.

The first contract cost me a little more, around $700, but now each is about half that.

Run the numbers and his mortgage would be about half of rent. and you get all the other benefits of owning in a growing area.
