He says we must install 2-prong outlets, but most appliances and other household thing-a-ma-jigs have 3-prong plugs (computers, vacuums, electronics, etc)… Also as a result, we cant have GFCI outlets installed where needed and most of the other things in the report can’t be done effectively.

It definately could effect that.If you have the STR for a year or two you should be able to count about 75% of the income so it would hurt you too bad.If you are planning on buying a new primary house within 12 months of buying the STR then I would buy your new primary residence first.
