Because I expect this to occur, I do not even consider investing in condos, as I don't want my purchase to be competing with newer, bigger, and better condos for market share in the next few years.As far as purchasing properties in the low $100s, I recently purchased a duplex in the Clayton Neighborhood a few months ago.  

Again, this is also rarely mentioned at Bigger Pockets.Multi-families, Condos, etc. don't really compete (per se), with Single Family. 

Since each state has specific statutory and case law regarding easements, as you already know, you'll likely need some in-depth consultation with a competent attorney. 

Mine suck and are barley competent.

So it happened to very big players as well..

However, we did sign NDAs and non-competes (which I've been told (by an attorney) are moot at present since the corporation we've founded hasn't done any actual revenue-generating business yet). 

Could you compete?

If you can get it low enough that it would still make sense if you had to keep your rent price low to compete, then I would say do it.

But it also means that your current condos will likely be competing against nicer, newer, better located structures.
