When moving away from home (if Oregon is your home) I think its nice to know your only a car ride away if you start to explore some of the mid west states that have good markets right now. 

I'd look for ones that haven't "popped" quite yet, and ride the market up.

In markets were you can ride a nice wave of increasing values a tad of negative is just fine.

Otherwise, I would watch any area walkable or short drive/bike ride (across the bridge in NE or SE) from RFK.

Question is how do you ride 20 years for it to self correct.  

Assuming the stock market is efficient, stock investors are best off putting their money into index funds and just riding the market wave of crests - and troughs.Index investing will likely have help people grow their funds over time.

Been a Wild Ride!!

There is more work in doing that than just letting the current house ride along.

I bet that market will still be riding for the next 5 years but if I lose - well so it will be a recession but is it going to affect everyone or just some specific groups of people?
