People I've spoken to have suggested it sounds like a scam, because the company just wants my details, then apparently they are going to create a fake identity in my name, and put me in debt..

You might be thinking that someone will swoop in and steal the deal but I'm not too worried as I'm just getting started (and people don't wholesale around here). 

Of course, being near Nashville is great for people who love a city with a unique identity, innovation and entrepreneurship, culture, music, food, art, nature, etc, etc.It's more challenging to find good deals in the city now, as it has been a really hot market, but there are still deals to be found a little farther out.Congrats on taking bold steps to improve your life!

ARV, and size of the complex... are there many other identical (or close in size and floor plan) units for sale?

I am looking to rent a place, it seems nice except three thingsthey are ranch style apartments. they have a gate in front of the main entrance, and you're responsible for the door if anything happens to it. for some reason they won't fix it. it actually looks like this but a wooden door in front of the main doorif i take the door down, how concerned should I be about people stealing stuff. if i had a lawn mower or something, they would have to come in the opening and take stuffi saw a report online about some guy that was looking in someones windows at the complex across the street. i dont know how long ago it was. i was looking online again but coudlnt find it. the one im staying at seems fine, how concerned should I be able the ones across from me?

I'm closing on property #7 in the Houston area and for the last 2, have used an identical approach.  

To fill a 20 yard for 1400 is a steal.

On of my partners in PDX ( we do deals together) I fund he finds them ... he has a partner in KC and they own 150 of these .. but his partner runs it.. does everything.. they tried to buy some in low end areas of memphis and got screwed over by management.. manager said their 8 homes were vacant .. they finally went over there and found all of them were rented and the manager was stealing the money LOL

I'm in the process of repairing my credit after a bout of identity theft.

I agree with Thomas S. and I personally do not think it's a great/steal deal!
