A condo that hasn't been upgraded since it was built in 1979 but is identical in every other way to one that has just been rehabbed with quartz counters, shaker cabinets, new black stainless appliances, imported tile floors, recessed lighting, fancy backsplashes, etc will show a much different $/sq ft. 

The world's largest semiconductor foundry has also leased 46k square feet of office space in Canyon Corporate Plaza 15-miles from the property purchased, which will be serviced by the light rail extension.

In order to get the 15 minute updates you have to have the meter attached to a Home Area Network (HAN), aka wifi, which will allow you to connect the meter to the website and the Nest thermostats and the Keen air vents, and smart lighting to lower our power consumption.

I'd tread lightly and let the daughter lead the way on this.

PS: If you used a light color, you will be amazed/shocked/horrified at how long it will take to wear through the tile.

Another area where I think you should definitely look into is University City and North Charlotte (28262, 28213) where the University of North Carolina Charlotte is located and also where the new light rail ends.

I posted this in the DIY forum but perhaps it will yield better results here.Before I settle on Lowe’s / Home Depot, I wanted to find out what other same-type local stores exist in the Catonsville, Glen Burnie or near that carry things like door knobs/ hinges, HVAC registers, kitchen cabinet hardware, light fixtures and even appliances.I don’t live in the area any longer and have not for many years and the area stores have changed so much.It’s a whole house upgrade and while I have settled the cabinets and flooring - it’s the other little things that I now need to consider.

Can anyone shed some light on the area?
