My opinion may be bias because I own a web design company, but you will waste time trying to figure things out on your own.  

Unless you're on the mobile browser then at the moment you can't, but I think they're working on it.Edit button works on the web-browser based mobile-friendly implementation; not sure about the mobile app.

I wonder if i can make my own site and SEO without relying on waiting months and months for a web developer to decide he can devote 2 hours to my little project ya know what I mean.

If you feel you must bloviate about yourself or otherwise advertise, there are many web sites that are happy to accommodate: LinkedIn, Craigslist, Facebook, and even the BP Marketplace.No thanks. 

I see all of the things we are discussing as product offerings, colleges, trade schools, seminars, guru courses, web sites (paid and unpaid).
