This may have to do with the economic and political influence of many of the other neighbours in Mount Pleasant or the fact that it is not in the historic uptown area (the location of the house is in what use to be a separate community called Portland) - which is also why it was spared in the great fire of 1877.One is free to renovated this house as you see fit - which is why my agent brought it to me.Our stock is typically an older, unloved building, either purposely built as multi-units or previously converted - but occasionally we will convert or re-arrange the division of a previous conversion.  

While the market rental value of the unit you occupy is correctly considered when figuring the property's cash flow, the number to use when figuring the total effect on your economic well being is the cost of housing you would be paying otherwise.

Sure, it is probably seen as a depressed area with little economic or social allure.  

For instance one area 25 miles north of my area is cheap work because it's economical and cost effective in. 25 Miles South people only want the best and use a company for their name because of the quality and brand "My house was built by Abc construction" and people know that company's quality and will pay 10,000 and 20,000 more for that reason alone.thanks for your input its a sad thing that fine woodworking is not desired as much as it's used to.have a good one,John
