This can be offset mostly by auto-debiting, but you're still going to spend more time collecting money if you bill weekly.Has anyone attempted this with houses?

If you don't want to "charge" your holding company LLC a management fee then amend your operating agreement (or create a formal document) to reflect that you are responsible for your own auto expenses and home office.

Neal I built 26 homes there ( the village at Rand Road was my project )  and then did about half a dozen infillsand funded maybe 3 for other builders.. market is robust.. and solid.the reason I am not there now.. was this was 5 to 6 years ago before building got white hot in Portland and we were able to get our subs to come out from East side Portland.. today you have a hard time getting subs from one side of Portland to the other side..
