I did LEDs in my rental (both bulbs and ceiling disk fixtures where there used to be can lights), but I got the 2700 or 2750 K ones - pretty close to a plain old soft-white incandescent. 

The basement is finished with 7'6" ceilings so it is the same sq ft as the two story homes.

The living room had a vaulted ceiling and tons of cracked drywall seems, which were professionally done and then everything in living room professionally painted, drywall work and painting was $1600 We painted the rest of the house ourselves.
