I would not consider repainting the entire unit as a solution in this situation, unless all other remedies failed first.

"Pushing" is a one sided approach whereas really trying to understand what is important to the seller and then crafting a solution accordingly is a much more effective way of making an agreement.  

One solutions might be to have a friend "pay" you to use it but you just give them the money back under the table, but then there's record of you being in business this year so that you can take your losses forward.

Half as a test of our partnership and exercise to strengthen it, and half because I truly feel there's a solution here that works for both of us.
