On one of the podcasts I remember hearing how u could buy properties in a self directed IRA and was wondering if anyone had any experience doing so in a TSP (thrift savings plan) as this is her savings vehicle for her employment.

I am sure u can do this BUT u have to let some time pass by before refinancing.

Multifamily properties are more abundant in West Philadelphia, but that's not to say you should rule out other neighborhoods (West Kensington, Brewerytown, Temple U vicinity).

That said, this strategy may only work out in certain situations but keep your eye open because it may appear and if u did ur research right, u should capitalize on the opportunity.

I wouldnt put it in the market since u may need it and the returns on a small amount are not impactful enough.
