Many of the real players at these meetings, seem to politely steer clear of newbies.

Easy to read, definitely has quite a bit of technical analysis but its with whit so you know where they are going with it.Some of the largest market players follow zerohedge...

I only highlight them because these things have helped me to not only be a team player but to grind and go get it!

I did recently visit Memphis and met with many players out there who helped me learn more and identify areas where there are potentials for a retail option out of the investment. 

The real players in town will know what attorneys to use when the time comes.

Other than scouring google, what publications and available resources are out there for me to find out more on key players that might be interested in my area?

My transferable skills (quality customer service skills, ability to multitask and adjust to changing environments, team player, ability to work with different personality types) with my real estate experience will not suffice?
