The guy is a total machine, and it is incredibly humbling that he is 6 years my junior but knows more about real estate and building wealth than I may ever.

They're not stuck as in "there are no other options", they're stuck as in "there are cheaper, crappier options but we'd have to pack up our entire lives and deal with the other expenses/headaches that come with moving so I guess we might as well just suffer with the increase". 

I usually provide our budget as well with totals spent.

As @Mike Lambert mentioned the Southern Italy market where you are at is a totally different market than the rest of Europe and even within Italy.
