The house was built in 1938, it's a craftsman style home, original hardwood flooring in good shape, original windows but it very good shape, the walls and ceiling had been filled with blown insulation, had a new roof installed in 2017, and the sellers were willing to pay 5k to have the house painted to the color of your choice.

However, we noticed a few redeeming features during our inspections that gave us some hope over the 8 month renovation - 11' ceilings (hidden behind drop ceilings), original heart pine floors (protected under laminate flooring), original fireplaces/mantles, and desirable location (5 minutes to downtown Columbia).

Having a shared wall is much better than having a shared ceiling/floor.As to the building's age, 100 years old is not immediately a bad sign because people update properties as they hold onto them throughout the years.

It could just a joist issue which isn't an expensive fix or something to worry about.Check the ceiling for brown spots as sign of a current or prior leaking room.Window units in house means there is an HVAC issue no matter the reason given by the owner.

S Sometimes the cabinet above the vent has wood pAneling around the metal vent through the ceiling...is that what you mean by looking wierd?
