His argument is yes, government needs to intervene; but at the same time not get too involved.My argument is the reason businesses get too powerful is because of government through lobbying/influence to modify laws that benefit big business.

So it could be argued that the only reason for those limits is to protect the RE industry and that thereby the lobbying group is actually influincing and controlling the governemnt officials.And interesting delimea indeed as on the one hand, the government is making laws just for special interest groups but on the other hand they may indeed be protecting their constituants from abuse by unliscensed predators.

However, this allows unlicensed people to basically play the middle man, which the Realtors are not crazy about -- so much so that they've successfully lobbied State governments...However, since you are a licensee, you can potentially bypass this issue.
