Should I be trying to buy a 3 or 4 plex to start or would utilizing a good chunk of equity and looking for a much larger investment like a 15+ unit be better?

I just purchased 2 4 plex, and sent out a 60 day notice to increase rents.

Hello all,I am currently house hacking a 4 plex and have been attracted to the medium term rental model.

The data we have seen shows obviously Malls, Hotels, Casinos, Strip Malls as being hit the hardest. 

I currently have a primary residence and my wife is opposed to moving to the 4 plex. 

Multifamily can be challenging to find because basically all investors want to start by buying a 4 plex and living in one unit.

I would lean more towards the tri-plex than the duplex.  

I'd like to get a reference (or two) for law firms that provide advice that will include an insurance claim for a fire which started in a neighboring tenant's trash bin they leaned against my 4-plex. 

We currently own 1, 4 Plex and am  working on strategizing the purchase of the next one.

If looking for stability, I would look at buildings built in the 1980s or newer, ideally townhome style instead of apartment style if a 4-plex, minimum 2 bedroom units.LEARNING RESOURCESI am going to try to keep up my blog here on Bigger Pockets specifically with 2-4 family units in mind.
