$1500 was borrowed to pay for the air fair, both ways.Another fact, that when I was on the air plane to NY, I met a guy who went to the same university as I did in Minsk and after he found out that i only had $50 he said: " man, u would not have enough to pay for the cab from JFK to NY and he gave me $1000 even though we just met and said that he knew I would pay him back"Ow, I get goose bumps when I remember this all, and he was a best man at my wedding.I met a girl at the wedding who was a nurse, had a houses and a new car.

Oh, one other thing, @Wane Tango , I don't know your day to day schedule, but on a modification of the driving for dollars theme, you could literally place letters at people's residences.

If I recall correctly, I sent them 9 different letters in sequence, each letter having a different theme, appeal, USP, headline, body copy and P.S.

I know times they be a changin... though.was just in Lincoln last summer for my niece's wedding stayed at Thunder Valley that's one nice Indian casino and hotel  by the way.My direct mail that I do now is in other states one were I live and others in the deep south were I am active.

I just started my direct mail marketing so I don't have any firsthand experience to provide BUT I've done a lot of reading and have been to many REIA meetings and the theme seems to be about 5-7 touches for your first list for the first 6 months.
