It's very SERIOUS.Onerent needs to be investigated by the Attorney General's office - they are putting entire communities at risk with their negligence.Exactly the same happened to me here in Oakland CA the tenants were 2 drug dealers n drug addicts no background checks were required, we spent over $20000 for evict them they never paid nothing at all.

Since my property is in a D area most of prospective tenants don't like to fill out background/credit checks let alone pay for them.

Documentation provided by the crowdfunding platform provided background checks on the managing GP and the LLC that was set up to hold the properties (separate LLCs for each), but not on any of the co-GPs.

Having your handyman do showings could be a solution, but keep in mind that if he’s not experienced in tenant screening, it could expose you to more risk, especially with squatters or less reliable tenants.You mentioned using something like Showmojo for smart access, which is great for efficiency, but I’d suggest ensuring you have solid procedures for background checks and tenant screening if you go that route.As someone who’s owned a property management company for 5+ years and manages over 300 units, I’ve seen the impact of not properly screening tenants.
