The things I'm seeing on here is very much shaping what I want that investment to be.On the side, I have a friend who works with some Chinese cash buyers, finding them property deals in and around LA.

My wife volunteers with a non-profit organization that helps international refugees and immigrants learn English and assimilate into American culture. 

My asset values don't rise and fall with the Chinese dollar, Greece's insolvency or Congress holding us fiscally hostage.  

At the age of 18 I moved to sunny San Diego where I completely fell in love with the culture, weather, and all things related to fitness.

Some have postulated that with the renminbi being devalued and the Chinese stock market 'crashing' (only back to Feb 2015 levels) that foreign investment from China would slow down but anecdotally at least we haven't heard that from our Chinese clients.

@Levon Janpoladyan, great in theory, but I'd be very skeptical of using Chinese manufacturers to build a home intended for America, simply because of a few recent hiccups.I think the better idea is to use modular homes built here in the US.

Since not only is it on the water but it's close to a bug city with all the culture offerings we don't have .Oh well plan b !

Our culture does not do a good job with educating people about the costs and work involved in housing others (and popular images are of greedy landlord and goofy ones like Mr Ferley and such from 3's Company). 

There's a big blogging/podcast culture around it.

@Vincent Crane - I am with you, It's hard to beat LA's culture and weather but I don't necessarily see myself living here forever.
