I'd rather be in debt like the US, but with a reasonable workforce to pay it off than better capitalized but with a looming demographic collapse like these other countries/regions.

Many of our parents and grandparents are in that demographic and I suspect most of the serious RE investors on BP will also be there eventually, if not already.I like to think of wealthy old people as the ones who have contributed more to the country's development than anyone else.
