I did an entire house, 3/1, 1,000 sq/ft down to the studs on the inside, insulated the walls, new electric panel, drywall, new windows, landscape, flooring, everything new except roof and hot water heater and it was just over $50K.

As far as STR's: I recently went to an agent-only panel held by my brokerage with representatives from our Metro Codes office and I will say that at the moment STR's are being pushed out of residential neighborhoods by the hotel industry.

It can work out and save you some money on some things but cost you money on others.People will sometimes go when a breaker goes bad and put in a cheaper breaker that is not correct for the panel.
