On dog size I feel differently because little dogs although maybe they can't do as much damage, in my experience they are yappers so a big noise issue.

The noise from upstairs is annoying so next time I'd do more testing of the quality of soundproofing in the ceiling (older home so wasn't as good).

@Marc Winter we are  struggling with this exact issue on carpet vs laminate but being a second floor condo sometimes its noise and sometimes there is alot of subfloor work to put in the vinyl, increasing the cost alot.

One of our properties is on the far south side over my UW-Rock, which is my favorite rental spot because it's full of single family and duplex homes, lots of cul-du-sacs that keep traffic noise down, and near the interstate.

Sorry I have to post this because it just happened: Your wife says you need a new truck because yours makes lots of noise and is 22 years old, you look at $20K trucks calculate the payments on your amortization app and decide you cannot afford it. ...Then you see a million dollar portfolio for sale on BP and start frantically running numbers on your app thinking there has to be some way I can afford this.
