I think three days is allowable in this situation.If the unauthorized tenants remained after doing so, you can get a real estate attorney to write a legal but threatening letter for a three-day notice to quit.

In my books this is a straight up threat and I do not tolerate tenants threatening me.

You don't want to be accused of retaliation for the complaint but basically this tenant relationship after threatening to sue is not going anywhere good so now or later you are going to want to get the tenants out of the place.

They'd probably threaten something and maybe take you to court but you'd probably have better chance of defeating those cliams. 

The tenant then threatened me with a lawsuit.
