Hoping to find a good deal in the area when I get back from this deployment. 

Private Equity are still deploying, though the increased cost of debt will make them more selective.

Are they military possibly looking at a change and deployment?

If I knew nothing about equities and had some extra cash to deploy, I'd play it safe and split my money 60:40 between a Total Market ETF, like VTI, and a SP500 ETF, like VOO. 

It is deploying capital to get a return on that capital.  

I don't think anybody watches my money better than I do, but time to deploy funds is important.

My goal will be to keep the capital deployed, secured a Deed of Trust and a sound Note holder, and keep steady interest payments filtering into my SDIRA. 

@Matt Moldenhauer,We had a similar situation, where the tenant was getting deployed, so we have in our lease if deployment causes them breaking the lease, we can show 1 month prior to the tenant leaving.    

When used properly to deploy IRA capital at arms' length, the structure itself does not create risk.
