Bravo @Mike Bolen - - you got it - - it's a job, not an investment.VRs are seductive in the proforma stage of analysis, but the math doesn't behave like tourists and there can be extraordinary vacancies and very hi operational costs.People go to vacation spots for a reason;  winter sports, summer hiking & fishing.

Good going SF gov, keep making housing a blood sport, and you wonder why prices are so high and housing is so limited.

I have recently sold that business and now am eagerly trying to find out more about real estate investing in all its facets.I also enjoy sports cars, dog showing (I have a champion German Shepherd), trying to play the guitar, and home theater.I am looking for a mentor in this online community to help guide me through the first few deals.Thanks for the time and I hope to learn a lot!

In the beginning I thought a vacation home will a good choice, but I read a lot of negative thinks in German forum posts, most of them ending that this is like burning money.

Tax Sales are like Sports (e.g., Basketball, Football, Soccer, Tennis, etc.). 

I grew up in action and active sports and have spent a whole lot of time around boating and the water.

I always hear/read that real estate investing is a team sport and I agree.
