If you do not have a mentor or the self motivating gene, I would recommend going to one of these brokerages first to get your feet wet.The smaller/discount brokerages are amazing for saving on amount of money that you pay in royalties, desk fees and commission splits.

I've found over the years that gas or oil in OK and TX are often capped sometimes for years depending on demand and costs or production is limited and royalties aren't what is usually expected, you're not in control but hey, some can be nice.
