one more note - when the US dollar is down it is good for exports. what that means is, for example, the Canadians will come to USA and buy as much as we can because our dollar will go a little farther and we can buy more. because currencies fluctuate... it affects prices in other currencies... we buy more US stuff when it's cheaper and less when it's more expensive, even though the prices may not have changed, the currencies have fluctuated against each other making it cheaper or more expensive for us. a good balance is best.

Now, that said, the American importers (and potentially Ecuadorian-based American exporters) are probably taking a large chunk of that money, as opposed to letting it flow into the Ecuadorian economy.In other words, I'm not sure how we could benefit their economy any more than we currently do without impacting the ability for Americans to be capitalistic or impacted free trade...

Usually when the government spend money, it reflects on the GDP which create payroll which bring taxes, however, in this scenario, the government spends mostly on services and product that the government needs, not on product to export which in return strengthen our currency.

Well, after winning the bid on it close to 2 mo ago and having my CC promptly charged for it, it's taking now some 2-3 mo and a lot of paperwork submitted on my part to "promise" the US defense dept that I'm not going to ship/export this lousy trailer (older than myself) to some foreign country, so they can get a hold of our military secrets.
