Do you think I need to mess with it, or do you figure since there is a 5-degree temperature difference between my 1st floor and my crawlspace tonight (and a 30 degree difference between the exterior and the crawlspace) that it really doesn't matter much and in fact the two areas should be thought of as readily sharing air and temps?

You'll need to specify this temperature and stipulation in the lease contract so that tenants are not surprised that they are unable to set the thermostat to 90 degrees in the winter for their personal comfort at your cost.

In addition, the general order also provides that the Sheriff shall cease execution of eviction orders (1) whenever the outside temperature is 15 degrees Fahrenheit or colder on the actual day of the eviction or (2) whenever regardless of outside temperature, extreme weather conditions endanger the health and welfare of those to be evicted.For landlords, this is just part of the business of being a landlord.

There are 2 parts that need to be ordered and he informed me they will take 3 days to come in since they don't have any on hand (it's winter so they must be low on stock).I provided the tenant with space heaters and they said they temperature was comfortable.

I look at plenty of tenanty's bills though and unless there is insulation, a $400 bill in the winter is going to be likely for a house this old at the temperature most tenants keep the heat - over 72.

Newer gas boilers have a digital readout on it, and also only heat the water as much as they need given outside temperature and the difference between the room temp and desired setting (so it's never going to send say 210 degree water to the radiators).

So I have tried to read up on laws in the Seattle, WA area and it seems that I am allowed to have a central heating system and just put in the lease that the temperature can't be set to lower than 68 degrees.
