where the cost will come in for surveying is were there is existing survey monuments that they can tie off of for controls.. sometimes those can be a mile or more away. if there is a record of survery next door or really close they maybe able to use those for control.you should talk to a surveyor and get a bid.. before you launch.. but one acre and if your going to build... and you abut govmit land I would say survey would be appropriate for safety.
