We do engineer hardwood and no Lux viynl like our competitors So all these things probably cost me 25k pre house but we have been selling them for 100k higher than Lennar for same sq ft and have created the highest priced development in town. we are approaching 400 a foot for finished product which was unheard of in Canby Oregon.U can see the homes and the finishs if you go to  Ivyridgeestatescanby  dot com.

I know ultimately I could be talking a competitor into investing, but at the same time I wouldn't be benefiting from investments if it wasn't for BiggerPockets.

By providing the best product, best service at an excellent price I am doing more than 90% of my competitors cheaping out.If I can do this, anyone can!!

We have seen competitors, or people in other businesses that compete with TK, posting things like this from fake accounts to deter people from exploring certain types of investing.

We have a local competitor that brags they don't charge a maintenance markup, yet we know:1) They charge owners $60/hour for their handyman2) How much do you think they're paying their handyman? 

I have proposed, enacted and vetted many ideas to invest in ways that take all of these things into account through my work with the big firms. some of my ideas helped them with their bond ratings and long term performance relative to their competitors. 

However, as a former SolarCity/Tesla employee and current competitor, I can see through so many of these "companies" who tout the Tesla Powerwall (or solar roof). 

Differentiate your rental like @John Underwood mentioned- amenities, prime location, benchmark on your competitors.

This knowledge is simply priceless to me not in monetary terms but more to keep competitors far far below me.This is my valuable lesson I will pass on to everyone.To be on top, is not by being the best!
