I believe NC is a deed of trust state and has a 10-year statute of limitations so if the 2nd DOT was originated in 1995 when the property was purchased and had a 15-year maturity the debt matured in 2010 and should have been time barred as of 2020 unless there is something of record indicating the DOT was modified to extend the date of maturity.
