Looking at your ROE gives you a different number, 4.8%.I know you've had significant appreciation on this house which should be included in the overall calculation, but I'm just trying to illustrate one use of an ROE calculation.I would not be happy with a 4.8% return on my equity, so this ROE calculation would signal to me that it's time to put the equity to work.  

When I approach the tenant upstairs about the issue, she says that she only does it to send the signal to the tenants downstairs to keep their noise level down.

My thoughts on faxing - these days faxing is nothing more sophisticated that a digital signal of content being sent from one IP address to another.

When conditions get like this, in any type of market, it's a signal that a significant number of people are going to lose money - whether it's from buying stocks that look like they'll just keep going up, or buying houses that are in a bubble. 

They will sign all documents at that time.

This is the bond market's way of signaling there is no faith in our economy and a recession follows like clockwork within 18 months.  

Maybe this is the new "pair of shoes dangling from the electric pole" signal that there are drugs available for sale?
