Only reason I am partnering is so that I can qualify for higher value properties with a co-signed conventional loan.

He is willing to be a co-applicant for the loan and collateralize some of his properties in Boston.Does anyone have a lender that they would recommend for this deal?  

A few quick + honest/direct observations with the disclaimer that we've all been in your shoes at some point so take everything here as simply ideas:* Dump Vacassa + find a co-host or VA that will manage your rental under your name so you "own" the reviews + pay less overhead.

It really comes  down to your area if the city / county requires inspections on sale or to get a CO to rent it out. 

I have not had international students, but you will have a co-signer issue.  

I currently own a co-op in Oakland Gardens - would love to house hack in the area but everything around my way in $1 million plus (INSANE).  

Probably should I install a CO detector asap but that's cheap and easy.

I'd love to learn a little bit more about your situation-- in general lenders want 2 years of W2 history, but I'm not exactly sure regarding a job overseas or how credit works with that either (you might need to build up credit here as well).If your strategy is a primary residence, maybe you could try to get a co-signer?
