I recently found out about house hacking, and was wondering whether it'd be smarter to buy a single family house and rent out the rooms or buy a multi family house.

Recently found a short sales which may meet this criteria but would need much more than cosmetic repairs (~35K rehab).

So I've just been getting a head start on checking out the market.

Reading stock market news or watching CNBC , reading annual reports etc .I've just seen too many people that have been able to succeed and gain financial independent and retire early or chose to retire early from real estate .Many of the people on this forum and on the BP podcast.

I've just paid off my student loans and - after dumping about a year on travel - I've finally saved up enough to start considering investing in real estate.  

I also recently found out that I could purchase significantly above the 424K that the VA allows with no down payment.With a  down payment of 25% of my overages, I can go up to 900K with lender approval of course.

Among being a landlord, I've just started digging into building my own store online to earn some side capital.
