There's no magic number, I rendered a bid of 500k for piers and beams alone.

After a home inspection I discovered that I might have a foundation issue because the inspector found a retrofit brick piers and a beam tilted out of place.

The thing to consider is that you may have to do a special foundation (piers with a void under the beams between the peirs) if the soils are expansive.
