This means they're a real business and not some fly-by-night crack heads.If the latter are giving me a screaming deal and might be worth working with, I buy the materials and only pay them their labor and profit after a milestone is completed to my satisfaction and that I know I won't have to redo it.

I'd like to compare how software and construction project managing are similar in nature.... i.e. project schedule, Scope of Work, Milestones, Scope summary, risks/issue log, Deliverable Acceptance Notifications, and all the PM knowledge areas and processes.

I can speak for conventional lenders when I say that we would always require the required cash injection from the borrower to go in first and then we would set up a draw schedule tied to completion milestones with the loaned funds.
