I too am a newbie from the central NJ area and stumbled across BP the same way as you.

I stumbled on this great site while looking for advise on buying investment property.My wife and I are thinking about starting our real estate empire with a small multi-family property.

So one day searches for distressed homes on Craigslist, stumbles across a good offer, contacts the seller, puts it under contract per se $55,000, finds a buyer asap, assigns the rights to the buyer for $60,000.

I decided that wasn't the route for me, so I started researching real estate investments and stumbled upon BP (what a awesome website!!!).

Hey All - what a great source of information and I just stumbled on this site today.

We've been biggerpocket addicts ever since Sam stumbled upon Brandon Turner's (not sure how to tag) article “How to Start Investing In Real Estate at a Young Age” and are in the process of soaking up all the BP forum threads, articles, webinars, and podcasts that we can while we create our first deal.

Thankfully, I stumbled upon BiggerPockets online while researching other RE investing groups.I am looking forward to learning here and getting to know other investors.
