I'm smelling a fly by night contractor who when he gets in over his head takes the money and runs and that pisses a legit contractor off.

It depends on jow much it is, We have used pex out here in N.Cal for the last 3 years and they still dont let you use it in parts of the bay area, if you are going to do the job yourself then then tool you will need will cost more in $ than all the material and time it would probably take you to do it in copper- I like the pex when used with a mana-block ,meaning each run is a home run, otherwise to me it looks like a drip system.I have never seen either fail,but on one job we were at, the mice were eating through the plastic (they could smell the water I guess.)

Probably smells like cat piss and has foundation/roof issues.There are probably stupid lowball offers that the seller is getting.

The smells themselves can get into the building materials and could cause a complete tear out down to the studs.

You could not name any evil, disgusting, foul, dirty, stupid, or crazy that I have not seen.Even found one hanging in a closet this past summer, after almost 10 days.

In this form a “material defect” means a condition that would have a substantial adverse effect on the value of the residential real property or that would significantly impair the health or safety of future occupants of the residential real property unless the seller reasonably believes that the condition has been corrected.I think you have an uphill battle, unless the information from the foundation contractor shows it was still a problem after the repair, especially since you got a home inspection.Just my opinion.
