In startup land the idea guy is a running joke unless s/he has the network to bring in the seed money, has the operational talent to run a company, or the technical talent to build the product.

There is absolutely know way to know if their success is based on their knowledge, talent, and skill or if it is based on the fact that a rising tide lifts all ships.And, by the way, that includes me. 

Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm not talented enough to time the market :-/

I represented major brands in the realm of celebrity endorsements, product placement, press outreach and talent relations.

Yes, 10 years may be a bit of a stretch unless someone like Amazon decided to setup an HQ in the area (not holding my breath...I think they would encounter a talent shortage IMO).

That said, I'm not opposed to paying a decent wage for good local talent either.
