They will not be able to take your personal assets such as your home without piercing the corporate veil or some fancy tactic.Also, not sure about TX, but in Louisiana you can go to the secretary of state website and fill out an online form and launch your LLC in about 10 mins for $75 and then you pay an annual fee and file an annual report to keep it legal.

They can be easily pierced.

Looking at duplexes in the $320-400k range in south King county and Pierce County WA.  

Also it's SUPER important that you remain at all times in compliance with Corp record keeping and each state had its own ins and outs and your went to make ABSOLUTELY SURE you are in complete compliance so the Corp veil is not pierced.

If it is a tract home chances that copper plumbing are contractor quality and it can be pierced by a gravel, rock or a nail causing water leakage.

If getting an LLC for asset protection, you will not want a single-member LLC as they have been getting pierced even in Nevada and Wyoming.
