By comparison I know another teacher who tans by the pool all summer.

Personally I would go with a darker grey/tan color.

I did a 203K and the contractor had the painter's paint the ceiling the same color of the walls, a tan color.

Quail Ridge for bedrooms and bathrooms which is a light gray, and Merino for living spaces which is a tan.

However, the kitchen was painted a green/gray and the tile is tan.

Depending on who gets in the hot tub, can drastically change the water quality.  1 person that has been out hiking through the park, sun tan lotion on etc that jumps in a hot tub, can leave enough organic matter that will use up the chemicals as perhaps a couple that uses it every night for 5 days, but they jump in clean and aren't doing the wild thing.  

My wife uses Behr Ashton Tan & I think it drys with a greyish tone.
