We experienced the hot peaking with El Nino in I believe 1987.The sun is on the verge of a very quiet period very similar to the Maunder Minimum, 400 years ago, that correlates with the last mini ice age where the canals in the Netherlands froze over. 

It has coverage currently but the coverage does not include any snow or ice damage (in Buffalo - we'd prefer to cover this particular casualty).

Access up there has only been possible during winter as you drive over ice but a new road is under construction allowing year round access to an Arctic community. might look up "Ice Road Truckers" there's great camping and recreation up there for the hardy types.
