Insist on seeing the interior of all units.

There are many things to consider like jobs, curb appeal, interior and exterior work that needs to be done, request actual numbers, amenities, storage, parking, public transportation stops, access, nearby schools, nearby parks, and nearby retail.Good luck to you!

The garage apartments in the back are in great shape, but the house has no interior pictures and is in original condition from the 30s or 40s.

I do not have a general contractor yet so I am not quite sure how much to expect as far as the remodel work goes as there are some significant changes I am making, adding sq. ft moving kitchen, bathrooms, exterior walls, removing interior walls, new roof plan etc. in addition to the usual new texture, flooring, paint job etc.Unless the preliminary plan is done, there is no way general contractors can bid on it but at the same time this being my first rodeo I have no clue how much to expect in this circumstances.

If you cannot find the borrower I would secure it and check out interior to see if it is worth foreclosing on.

My job for this investor (who is an agent and interior designer) was serving as an analyst, constructing proformas, consulting on my opinion on macroeconomic markets and outlooks for real estate, consulting on microfinancial decisions (I am an Economics major with a specialization in International Macro-Finance & Econometrics), and managing day to day duties of rehabs on site.

As for the interior of the home, tell them you are coming by to do an inspection.  

I use Zillow to get interior pictures of properties for comps, so I can tell an appraiser why my flips are better than the other ones.
