There's a mixture of pull-chain screw-in bulb fixtures, and florescent lights with pull-chains that are plugged into 2-prong outlets in the ceiling. 

With a real estate license, you can connect with every outlet and build a network.

All the hot water tanks should have a shut off on the cold in water line into the tank, make sure they are all off as well and open a hot water outlet to relieve the pressure.
