If your goal is financial independence, then selecting an investment city is a straightforward process due to the income requirements for financial independence.

Honestly with an interest rate like that you could even not pay off your primary and put any excess capital in a high yields savings account and be financially further in the long term.  

I became financially free in my early 50s. 

If there’s a repair needed usually they’ll just handle it if it’s under a certain financial threshold o ran emergency.
