Frankly, to facilitate visual inspections of the accounts, especially Income and Billing from ongoing vendors, I log such things to the date it applies, like mortgage is due on the 1st.The critical point is to keep all income and expenses associated in the correct year, so prepaid 6 months rent received in Nov should keep two months in this year and 4 months logged to next year.
