Neighborhood Scout - Gives you a good overview of the areaCity-data - Use the map view to zoom into the specific block and it will give you more stats than you know what to do with.

I'm currently trying to scout which area may be best to target as I'm fairly new to the area.

I will be doing a lot of scouting over the next few months.Once I read a bit more and have more specific questions I'd like to attend local investor meetings/groups.

How did your scouting trip go here in Atlanta?

I plan to do some scouting around the Reno/Sparks area in the next couple of weeks as I prefer to see the neighborhood and its surroundings before making a move.

Does any seasoned real estate investors use and find value in neighborhoodscout.com? Do you find it as accurate data?

I do Tax Prep and Bookkeeping on the side for a local accountant, and for 2 years I worked as a property scout (Bird Dog) for a local investor. 

So I use Neighborhood Scout to research vacancy rates and have been doing so for over a year for free.

We found our primary realtor through BP, even (though we wound up running into him in person while scouting areas first). 

Likely talking about end of August and likely somewhere close to Williamsburg  (convenient to trains)   I'm scouting venues currently and should have a more concrete idea of time and place by end of week.
