Don’t take Uncle Sam’s nickel.

I first pitched a small, family real estate investment group to my uncle who I knew would be interested.

Learning the basics of electrical , plumbing , AC , painting etc will help you in this line of business which also save you a lot when you acquire your first home.This is how I got started , maintaining the rentals of my uncle  when I was your age. 

Assuming my mortgage payment is around $1,000 to $1,500 per month, and i would receive $2,200 per month from Uncle Sam, why would i not do this??

The 3 siblings would like to sell the property and walk away but my partner and her sister would like to try to keep the STR in the family and take over ownership from their Aunts and Uncles.

.: @Jenat Higaa true 'private' lender is someone you know - your dentist, your uncle, someone you work with, someone in a business mastermind with you.so if you need to 'vet' a private lender... they're not a private lender. 

I recently purchased a house from my uncle that has a shared well located on the neighbors property.

Lose money and get hit with a tax bill from Uncle Sam.
