Once you get the paint off and the wood is dry, re-stain it with something close to the original stain and see how it looks.

After that day- I realized how crazy it is to let them leave without paying what they agreed to in the lease - and nothing toward the dirty carpets, dirty walls, mold in bathrooms, oil stains in the garage and driveway, etc and free rent they accumulated.
